Chennai: The US Consulate General in Chennai, in cooperation with Care Earth Trust, launched the bi-lingual digital ‘Museum in a Box’, as part of its Water Matters initiative, in a virtual event, on 30 November.
A press release said, the ‘Museum in a Box’ serves as a starting point for teachers and educators looking to introduce children to the basic principles of hydrology with interactive tools that explain drainage basins and watersheds, protecting aquatic species, and rain water harvesting. Available on the Care Earth Trust website, in English and Tamil, it is designed for middle and high school students.
The virtual compilation includes three and two-dimensional animated films, explanatory tutorial videos, downloadable flash cards, interactive games and puzzles, illustrated primers, posters, factsheets, and will be hosted on the Trust’s website starting today.
Educators can gain access to the learning material for free, by registering on the same.
The Consulate General’s Chennai Public Affairs Officer Anne Seshadri said, “We invite the public, especially the youth and secondary school educators, to explore challenges and solutions related to sustainable water management through this digital curriculum on water”.
Care Earth Trust managing trustee Dr. Jayshree Vencatesan said, “The initiative provides us with a platform to reach out to a diverse set of people, from bureaucrats to students, communicating with each group in a language that brings home the message of consciousness and conservation”.
