Chennai: People of Delhi were in for a shock late Thursday night, as a medium-intensity earthquake with 4.2 magnitude, struck near Delhi.
The earthquake whose epicentre was Haryanaâs Rewari, struck at 11.46 pm at a depth of 25 kilometres from the surface, forcing people to rush out of their homes.
According to India’s National Center for Seismology, âThe epicentre of the earthquake was 48 km southwest of Gurgaon in Haryanaâ.
Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and surrounding areas for several seconds. Sources said, “There was no immediate report of any damage to life or property.”
Netizens took to social media to share their experiences, with #Earthquake trending Nationally. Earlier on Thursday, an earthquake of 3.0 magnitude on the Richter scale had hit Rajasthanâs Jaipur.
