Chennai: In view of the State-wide total lockdown from Monday till 24 May and the hindrances to consumers, TANGEDCO has extended the deadline for payment of electricity bills for domestic users till 31 May.
According to an official release, the deadline to pay bills and existing dues has been extended till the end of the month.
It added that consumers will not be required to pay any belated payment charges and TANGEDCO staff have been instructed to not disconnect services till 31 May.
Meanwhile, thousands of workers who are working on transformer or feeder lines in sub-stations to ensure uninterrupted power supply to residents during the Covid-19 lockdown, have requested the government to declare them as frontline workers.
