Chennai: With 348 persons testing positive for Covid-19 in Tamilnadu on Tuesday, five of the 38 districts reported no fresh cases and 21 districts logged fewer than 10 cases each.
Five infected people returned from Assam, Bihar and Bangladesh, according to the Department of Health. Recoveries outnumbered the new cases with 1,025 people getting discharged in the last 24 hours, a bulletin said.
With 92 new cases, Chennai continued to report the highest number of fresh cases in the state, followed by 51 in Coimbatore and 39 in Chengalpet. All other districts recorded fewer than 20 cases. While Kancheepuram and Kanyakumari reported ten cases each, 21 districts reported cases in single digits.
About 53,132 people were tested in the past 24 hours, the test positivity rate (TPR) in the State dropped to 0.7 percent, while 1.1 percent positivity rate was recorded in Chennai. The highest TPR of 1.6 was reported in the Nilgiris.
