Chennai: A 13-year-old sick white tigress died at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park at suburban Vandalur, popularly called as Vandalur zoo.
A statement from AAZP said the tigress, named Akansha, died in her night cell due to Ataxia.
The tigress was undergoing treatment for over two weeks for ataxia (lack of muscle control), which has impaired movement of legs.
The animal was off feed for the last two days and was showing complete paralytic symptoms of the entire body and limbs. It died despite all efforts taken to save the animal.
A post mortem will be carried out by following due procedure involving TANUVAS experts.
