Chennai: As many as twenty-six of the 38 districts in Tamilnadu had no new Covid-19 cases and five districts reported one case each on Monday when the State added 33 new cases to its registry.
According to a Health department bulletin, the State continued to report zero deaths and discharged 61 patients. By the end of the day, there were 366 active cases of Covid-19.
Sixtyone patients got discharged Monday. Cumulatively, the number mounted to 34,14,323, according to the bulletin.
Chennai is the lone district among the 38 to record 16 new cases. Of the 38, 11 saw either one or two new infections.
Meanwhile, the Omicron variant of the coronavirus completely replaced the Delta variant in Tamilnadu this month, as per data from the Directorate of Public Health. As on Monday, 68.4 per cent of all whole genome sequenced samples were of the BA.2 variant, and 15.2 per cent were of the BA.1.1 variant.
