Covid figures slightly go up in Tamilnadu

Chennai: Tamilnadu reported a marginal increase in fresh Covid-19 cases for the second consecutive day on Wednesday with 39 new cases, compared to 37 cases on Tuesday and 33 on Monday.

The number of districts that reported new cases rose to 15 on Wednesday. The number of samples tested rose marginally when compared to the last three days. A total of 30,095 samples were tested on Wednesday.

The test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.1 per cent after 30,095 samples were tested. Chennai continues to report the highest positivity rate with 0.7 per cent, Chengalpattu and Nilgiris 0.4 per cent each, Coimbatore and Thiruvallur had 0.3 per cent each.

Recoveries grew to 34,14,443 with 56 people getting discharged in the last 24 hours, leaving 322 active infections, a bulletin said. Chennai added 18 new cases, while 14 districts reported new infections below 10.
