Chennai: Twenty three more persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Tamilnadu on Sunday, taking the total number of persons infected to 34,52,910.
Fresh cases were reported in 10 districts. Chengalpattu, Kanniyakumari, Tiruvarur, and Thoothukudi each reported two fresh cases. One case each was reported in Thiruvallur, Thanjavur, Salem, the Nilgiris, Namakkal and Coimbatore. At present 275 persons are under treatment.
A total of 32 patients were discharged and the active cases were 284. A total of 23,799 samples were tested and there was zero death in the State. Chennai reported 12 new cases.
Not a single district in recorded new cases in double digits for the first time since 18 April, 2020, when Chennai’s count went above 10. On Sunday, only nine from the district tested positive. In 27 other districts, there were no new cases.
