Chennai: Fresh Covid-19 cases in Tamilnadu dropped further to 22 on Friday from 25 on Thursday and 29 on Wednesday. The State discharged 24 patients from the registry, reported zero deaths and by the end of the day 228 patients were in the active registry.
One person who returned from the United Kingdom was among the fresh infections recorded today. The UK returnee underwent an RT-PCR test at the Chennai airport and his samples returned positive.
Among those who have tested positive in the last 24 hours include 12 men and 10 women, according to a bulletin.
Nearly 95 per cent of more than 2,627 samples screened by the whole genome sequencing lab were Omicron variants.
