With the retail inflation down, if the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) pause on the policy rate hike or increase it by 25 basis points to 6.50 per cent will be known on February 8.The RBI’s MPC will be meeting to decide on the rates.

Hackers stole $3.8 bn from crypto investors in 2022

Cryptocurrency hackers stole $3.8 billion last year, making it the worst year on record for crypto investors, up from $3.3 billion in 2021. According to Blockchain analytics platform Chainalysis, October was the biggest single month ever for cryptocurrency hacking, as $775.7 million was stolen in 32 separate attacks.

Technology sector cuts most jobs in January in US: Report

Led by the technology sector, US-based employers announced 102,943 cuts in January, a massive 136 per cent increase from the 43,651 cuts announced in December, a new report has said. It is 440 per cent higher than the 19,064 cuts announced in the same month in 2022, according to a report by global outplacement and business and executive coaching firm, Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. The technology sector announced the most cuts with 41,829, 41 per cent of all cuts, announced in January.

Telegram adds real-time message translation in its new update

Telegram Messenger has added major features in its latest update to its application, including Translating Entire Chats, Profile Picture Maker, Emoji Categories etc. With the “Translating Entire Chats” feature, premium users will be able to translate entire chats, groups and channels in real-time by tapping the Translate bar at the top. However, all users can translate individual messages by selecting them and tapping “Translate”.

Global smartphone revenue fall by 9% in 2022: Report

 The global smartphone revenue declined by 9 per cent, amounting to $409 billion in 2022, the lowest since 2017, a new report has said. According to Counterpoint Research, the global smartphone market declined by 18 per cent (year-over-year) to reach 304 million units in Q4 2022.
