SC notice to Centre on plea by Congress leader challenging PMLA’s Sec 50

The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice on a plea by Congress leader seeking to declare Section 50 and Section 63 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 as ultra vires the Constitution. Section 50 gives Enforcement Directorate (ED) power to summon an accused and record a statement, which is admissible evidence in court of law.

‘Indian goods and services exports set to cross $760 bn in 2022-23’

 Indian goods and services exports are set to cross the $760 billion mark in the current fiscal, commerce minister Piyush Goyal said on Tuesday. Addressing the industry body Assocham’s annual session, Goyal said that in 2021-22, the country’s goods and services exports touched an all-time high of $422 billion and $254 billion respectively, taking the total shipments to $676 billion.

Kalaignar Memorial Library in Madurai will open in June

 The construction of the Kalaignar Memorial Library in Madurai is completed and is all set to open for public use from June 3. The library is being constructed at a cost of Rs 114 crores on Madurai Pudhunattam Roads. Of this, Rs 99 crore has been allocated for building, Rs 10 crore for books and Rs 5 crore for technical equipment.
