Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai has issued a strong call for the state government to take decisive action against atrocities targeting Scheduled Castes (SCs), emphasising the need to prevent such incidents from recurring. Annamalai made these remarks in a statement posted on the social media platform X, alleging a concerning increase in violence against SC communities since the DMK assumed power. According to Annamalai, the State government is inadvertently fostering animosity among different communities through what he describes as divisive vote bank politics. He accuses the government of failing to address the issue with the seriousness it deserves and not taking stringent measures against those responsible for the violence. The BJP president expressed profound shock and concern over a recent incident in Perungudi, Madurai district, where five individuals from a Scheduled Caste, including a child, were subjected to a brutal attack. Annamalai condemned what he termed as the DMK government’s “indifferent attitude” toward such distressing events, asserting that it is no longer acceptable. Annamalai’s call for firm action aligns with a broader concern for the well-being and safety of marginalized communities in the state. He urged the government to prioritize the protection of SCs and to address the root causes of these incidents, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive strategy to ensure the safety and security of vulnerable populations.
