Chennai, Jan 9: During the “En Mann En Makkal” yatra in Mecheri, K. Annamalai, the BJP State president, accused the DMK government in Tamil Nadu of only fulfilling 20 out of the 511 promises made during the elections. Annamalai pointed out unmet commitments, including the establishment of a polytechnic college, a cold storage warehouse facility, and a tomato sauce industry in the Mettur assembly constituency.
Annamalai criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for rejecting a proposal from the Public Works Department (PWD) to desilt the Mettur dam for additional water storage. He questioned the government’s priorities, citing the refusal due to funding issues while investing in memorials dedicated to M. Karunanidhi.
While addressing the public, Annamalai emphasized the BJP-led government’s achievements, citing the Union government’s initiatives benefiting Salem district. These include housing for over 63,000 beneficiaries, subsidies for toilets in 3.01 lakh houses, free LPG cylinders for 1.78 lakh beneficiaries, and substantial Mudra loans amounting to ₹6,682 crore.
Annamalai outlined India’s economic growth under the BJP, transforming from the 11th largest economy in 2014 to the fifth largest by 2023. He projected India to become the third-largest economy by 2028, highlighting the positive impact on individual income, which rose from ₹86,000 to ₹1.96 lakh annually.
The BJP president underscored the DMK’s failure to deliver on its promise of creating job opportunities, especially in contrast to the BJP-led government’s efforts.
