Lok Sabha polls: Stalin conducts interview of potential candidates

In a swift and decisive move, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) wasted no time in commencing the process of interviewing potential candidates for the upcoming elections, just a day after finalizing seat-sharing arrangements with its allies. DMK General Secretary Duraimurugan had previously announced that party chief and Chief Minister MK Stalin would personally oversee the interview process for prospective MP ticket applicants, starting from 9 am on March 10.

True to their word, Stalin has been diligently screening applicants since the morning hours. According to sources within the DMK, a staggering total of 2,590 applications have been received, reflecting the heightened interest and enthusiasm among party members to contest in the upcoming polls.
The conclusion of protracted seat-sharing negotiations on Saturday marked a significant milestone for the DMK-led alliance. Under the finalized agreement, the DMK will contest in 21 seats, while the Congress will vie for 10. Additionally, two seats each have been allocated to the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Communist Party of India (CPI), and Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), with one seat each designated for the Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi (KMDK), Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK). Notably, Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) opted for a compromise, settling for a Rajya Sabha seat.
