In a reaffirmation of its stance as a custodian of the Muslim community, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami assured Muslims of the party’s unwavering support during an ‘Iftar’ event organized by the party. Reflecting on the legacy of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Palaniswami highlighted her dedication to the welfare of Muslims and her pivotal role in proposing A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s candidacy for the presidency.Palaniswami emphasized the continuity of Jayalalithaa’s policies towards the Muslim community, assuring that her vision and commitment would persist under the AIADMK’s leadership. The event also saw Former Minister A. Anwhar Raajhaa expressing the party’s opposition to contentious legislations such as the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, the law on ‘triple talaq,’ and the Uniform Civil Code, aligning with sentiments shared by many within the Muslim community.
Addressing speculations regarding political alliances, Palaniswami revealed ongoing discussions with the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), with plans to inform the media upon negotiations with the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK). He dismissed concerns surrounding the formation of a third front by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting confidence in the electoral prospects of the front led by the AIADMK.
