Sangeetha Kalanidhi for TM Krishna


Renowned Carnatic musician Thodur Madabusi Krishna, affectionately known as TM Krishna, has been honored with the prestigious Sangita Kalanidhi award by The Music Academy. This esteemed recognition celebrates Krishna’s exceptional contribution to music and his pioneering efforts in utilizing music as a catalyst for social change.
Krishna’s innovative approach to Carnatic music has garnered widespread acclaim, not only for his exceptional vocal talents but also for his commitment to addressing social issues through his musical platform. His repertoire seamlessly blends tradition with contemporary themes, challenging conventions and sparking conversations on topics such as caste, gender, and identity.
In addition to Krishna’s accolade, Neena Prasad has been awarded the Nritya Kalanidhi award in the dance category. A leading exponent of Mohiniyattam, Prasad’s dedication to her art form has earned her recognition as a top-ranking performer. As the founder of the Bharathanjali Academy of Indian Dances and a center for Mohiniyattam in Chennai, Prasad has been instrumental in preserving and promoting Indian classical dance.
The executive committee of The Music Academy convened to deliberate and bestow these prestigious awards upon deserving artists, including Professor Parassala Ravi, Geetha Raja, and the Thiruvaiyyaru brothers.
