In a move towards enhancing safety measures, oil companies have initiated free safety inspections for cooking gas cylinders in households. Going forward, delivery personnel will conduct these inspections and register them via the customers’ mobile phone applications.
Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum, among other oil companies, are distributing cooking gas cylinders weighing 14.20 kilograms for households and 19 kilograms for commercial use.
It is mandatory to replace rubber tubes in cylinders every five years. Regulator functioning should also undergo inspection.
These inspections, carried out once every five years, come with a fee of 200 rupees.
Presently, oil companies are implementing new regulations, including eight safety features encompassing regulator operation, cylinder height, regulator markings, and cylinder installation emergency number ‘1906’. Other safety precautions include illuminating the kitchen, among other items, and delivery personnel will conduct inspections.
Details will be registered on the customer’s mobile phone application. Subsequently, a unique secret code, known as an OTP, will be sent to the customer’s registered mobile number. Following this, the inspection will be completed. No fee will be charged for this inspection.
