On Sunday, a significant number of government and aided school students in Tamil Nadu participated in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), with a total of 12,730 candidates appearing for the examination across the state.
Data provided by the school education department revealed that among the students who appeared for NEET, 9,094 were girls and 3,647 were boys. These students underwent rigorous training at 330 government centers, where they received comprehensive coaching on all NEET subjects, including physics, chemistry, zoology, and botany.
The enrollment for NEET coaching from government and aided schools was particularly high in several districts. Salem, with 992 candidates, emerged as the district with the highest number of enrollments, followed by Thiruvanmalai with 929 candidates, Chennai with 827 candidates, and Dharmapuri with 692 candidates.
The participation of government and aided school students in NEET reflects the concerted efforts of the Tamil Nadu government to provide equal opportunities for students from all backgrounds to pursue higher education in the medical field. By offering comprehensive coaching and support at government centers, the state aims to empower students and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in competitive examinations like NEET.
