TN to operate 945 special buses to clear weekend rush


To ensure hassle-free travel during the upcoming weekend, Tamil Nadu’s State Transport Corporations have announced the operation of 945 special buses from Friday to Sunday, in addition to their regular daily services. This initiative aims to accommodate the increased passenger demand and improve travel convenience.
According to an official release, the transport corporations will deploy 265 special buses on Friday and 320 buses on Saturday from Kilambakkam terminus. These buses will cover major destinations including Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, and Salem.
From Koyambedu, an additional 65 special buses will be operated on Friday and Saturday, serving routes to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru. Specifically, 15 special buses will run to Tiruvannamalai from Koyambedu on both Friday and Saturday.
Furthermore, 200 special buses will be operated from Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Tirupur, and Erode to various parts of Tamil Nadu, ensuring wide coverage across the state.
Passengers are encouraged to utilize online ticket booking facilities to plan their trips and secure their seats in advance. As of now, 4,234 passengers have reserved their seats for Friday, while 1,930 and 4,179 passengers have booked tickets for Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
The State Transport Corporations’ proactive measures are expected to significantly ease travel during the weekend, providing a more comfortable and efficient journey for all passengers.
