CMDA launches beautification project for Velachery flyover


The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has issued tenders to revamp the area beneath the Velachery flyover, aiming to enhance urban aesthetics and convenience. This ambitious project will convert the underutilized space into a park and bus stand, offering significant improvements to the local infrastructure.

Key Features of the Project:

Bus Stand:

Six Bus Bays: The bus stand will feature six dedicated bus bays to streamline the flow of buses and reduce congestion.
Waiting Area: A comfortable waiting area will be provided for passengers.
Pedestrian Walk Path: Safe and convenient pathways for pedestrians.
Amenities: Modern amenities including toilets for men, women, and persons with disabilities.
Security and Lighting: The bus stand will be equipped with CCTV cameras, a public address system, and LED lighting to ensure safety and visibility.
Park:

Children’s Play Area: A dedicated space with play equipment for children.
Open Gym: An outdoor gym facility to promote fitness among residents.
Walking Tracks: Well-maintained walking tracks for exercise and leisure.
Artwork and Sculptures: Artistic elements and sculptures to enhance the visual appeal.
Illumination: LED lighting to brighten the park area.
Boundary Wall: A secure boundary wall to enclose the park.
Landscaping: Extensive landscaping with a sprinkler system to maintain greenery.
Art and Lighting:

Art-Painted Pillars: The flyover pillars will be adorned with artistic paintings, adding a vibrant touch to the area.
Footpath Lighting: LED lights and Post Top Lanterns (PTL) will illuminate the footpaths, ensuring safety and enhancing the night-time ambiance.
In addition to the Velachery flyover project, the CMDA has plans to beautify flyovers at Retteri, Villivakkam, Padi, and Vadapalani.
