Vikravandi bypoll results: DMK’s Anniyur Siva heading towards victory


The ruling DMK is poised for a significant win in the Vikravandi assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu, with vote counting from the recent by-election underway. According to the Election Commission’s website, Anniyur Siva, also known as A. Sivashanmugam of the DMK, has secured 44,780 votes, leading by a substantial margin of over 27,000 votes against his nearest rival, Pattali Makkal Katchi’s C. Anbumani, who has garnered 17,359 votes so far.

In third place is the Nam Tamilar Katchi candidate, K. Abinaya, with 3,556 votes. The None of the Above (NOTA) option has received 311 votes in the Vikravandi bypolls.

The by-election, held on July 10, saw a notable absence of participation from the main opposition parties in the state, AIADMK and DMDK, both of which chose to boycott the polls.
