DMK Organizational Secretary R.S. Bharathi has raised serious concerns regarding the recent removal of thousands of names from the voter list by the Election Commission without informing the affected voters. In a petition sent to the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, Satyabrata Sahoo, Bharathi expressed his dismay over the large-scale deletion of voter names from the electoral roll. He stated that the removal was done arbitrarily, without any prior notice or information to the voters.
Bharathi also pointed out that despite having voter ID cards, living at the same address for many years, and having participated in previous elections, many voters found their names removed from the list. He emphasized that this situation needs to be addressed and a proper resolution must be provided.
He further criticized the election officials for not taking action to remove the names of deceased voters, raising suspicions that the officials might be acting in a fraudulent manner, failing to fulfill their legal duties. Bharathi called for a thorough investigation and appropriate measures to rectify the situation.
