The process for revising the voter list across Tamil Nadu has officially begun, running until November 28. Draft voter lists for each assembly constituency in all districts have been published, showing that Tamil Nadu currently has a total of 62.7 million registered voters. The revision aims to update the records, ensuring accurate information for future elections.
In a statement, Tamil Nadu’s Chief Electoral Officer, Satyabrata Sahoo, announced that the draft voter list has been prepared with January 1 as the eligibility date for determining voter qualifications. This draft list is available for public view at polling stations and on the Election Commission’s website, www.elections.tn.gov.in, allowing citizens to verify their details and make necessary updates.
Voter Statistics in Tamil Nadu
According to the draft list, Tamil Nadu’s total voter count stands at 6,27,30,588, comprising 3,07,90,791 male voters, 3,19,30,833 female voters, and 8,964 third-gender voters. The constituency with the highest voter count is Sholinganallur in Chengalpattu district, with 627,000 voters, including 338,000 males, 337,000 females, and 125 third-gender individuals. Meanwhile, the constituency with the lowest number of voters is Kilvelur in Nagapattinam district, where the total voter count is 173,000, with 85,065 males, 88,162 females, and 3 third-gender individuals.
Special Camps for Voter Registration and Updates
To assist citizens with voter registration and information updates, the Election Commission has scheduled special voter camps on November 16, 17, 23, and 24. During these camps, eligible individuals can register to add their names, remove names, make corrections, change addresses, and link Aadhaar numbers to their voter ID. Those who miss these camp dates can visit the offices of polling booth officers, voter registration officers, and assistant voter registration officers on regular days for assistance.
