“The main agenda of opposition parties is to disrupt the DMK-led alliance,” alleged Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol. Thirumavalavan during his visit to Madurai. Speaking to reporters at the airport, he emphasized the stability of the DMK alliance and dismissed any need for his party to join a new coalition.
Thirumavalavan stated, “The VCK is part of the Secular Progressive Alliance at the state level and the INDIA bloc at the national level. There is no necessity for us to consider any new alliances. The opposition parties, particularly the AIADMK and BJP, are focused on destabilizing the DMK alliance. Their agenda is to prevent this successful alliance from securing victory in the upcoming state elections.”
He further clarified that his party is under no pressure within the alliance. “There is no compulsion on us, and we are not in a position to bow to any such pressures,” he said.
Referring to actor Vijay’s recent political statements, Thirumavalavan remarked, “At the Vikravandi conference, Vijay openly declared the DMK as his primary opponent. This has stirred political debates, but I am not willing to give fodder to those waiting to politicize every move. Even if I attend a non-political event, it is turned into a political spectacle.”
Thirumavalavan also dismissed the idea of sharing a platform with Vijay, stating, “If I and Vijay were to stand on the same stage, certain elements in Tamil Nadu’s political circles would exploit it to create chaos. I do not wish to provide an opportunity for such mischief.”
Addressing internal issues within the VCK, Thirumavalavan mentioned concerns regarding one of the party’s Deputy General Secretaries, Athav Arjuna. He said, “Among the ten Deputy General Secretaries of the VCK, there have been allegations against Athav Arjuna for actions against the party’s interests. Such matters are taken seriously and discussed by the High Command. Particularly, if non-Dalit members in the VCK hold positions of responsibility, the legitimacy of the allegations against them must be thoroughly verified before action is taken.”
He added, “Senior leaders have brought Arjuna’s recent actions to the attention of the leadership, citing them as detrimental to the party’s welfare. A decision regarding this matter will be announced soon.”
Thirumavalavan concluded by reiterating his commitment to strengthening the DMK alliance and ensuring its continued success in the face of opposition challenges.
