A new initiative to provide day-long Annadhanam (free meals) has been launched at the Marudhamalai Subramaniaswamy Temple in Coimbatore and the Kallazhagar Temple in Madurai.
According to an official release, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department previously implemented the day-long Annadhanam scheme only at Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple and Palani Dandayudhapani Swamy Temple. However, after the DMK government assumed office, the scheme was expanded to include temples in Tiruchendur, Samayapuram, Tiruthani, Rameswaram, Tiruvannamalai, Madurai, Periyapalayam in Tiruvallur district, Melmalayanur in Villupuram, and Annamalai Masaniamman Temple in Coimbatore.
Following this expansion, the scheme has now been extended to Marudhamalai Subramaniaswamy Temple and Kallazhagar Temple.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the scheme through a video conference yesterday. As part of the initiative, he also launched a mid-day meal program for students of two schools and four colleges under the administration of the Palani Dandayudhapani Swamy Temple.
The launch event was attended by HR&CE Minister Sekarbabu, Chief Secretary Muruganandam, HR&CE Commissioner Sridhar, and Additional Commissioner Haripriya.
This initiative aims to provide free meals to devotees throughout the day.
