In light of the 76th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, the Chennai police have declared areas around Marina Beach and key routes traversed by the Governor and the Chief Minister as “Red Zones.” The routes include the Governor’s path from Raj Bhavan to Marina and the Chief Minister’s journey from Chittaranjan Salai to Marina.
The Republic Day celebrations will take place near the Labour Statue on Kamarajar Salai, Marina. As per standing orders, the police have already banned the use of drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, and paragliding in the city.
