DSP part of Anna varsity sexual assault probe team quits

City Cybercrime Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raghavendra K Ravi, who was part of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Anna University sexual assault case, has resigned from his position, citing personal reasons and a medical emergency in his family.
According to sources, Ravi addressed a confidential letter to Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal, expressing his decision to step down from the department. A senior police officer confirmed that Ravi cited his mother’s health concerns as one of the reasons for his resignation.
Police sources revealed that Ravi was unhappy with his appointment to the Anna University sexual assault case as a cybercrime expert while he was already on leave due to a medical emergency at home. His unexpected inclusion in the SIT reportedly added to his distress, leading him to step away from his role.
It remains unclear whether his resignation has been accepted or if higher authorities will persuade him to reconsider. His departure comes at a crucial juncture in the investigation, raising concerns about how the probe will proceed without his expertise in cybercrime.
