AIADMK Deputy General Secretary KP Munusamy has raised concerns over the central government’s decision to grant ‘Y’ category security to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor Vijay. Speaking to the media in Krishnagiri, he speculated that the BJP might have extended the security cover with political intentions to bring Vijay into their alliance.“It appears to be an attempt to keep him happy and pull him into their fold. However, I welcome the decision to provide security, as Vijay is now a party leader and a popular actor who attracts large crowds,” Munusamy stated.Regarding the recent Madras High Court verdict allowing the Election Commission (EC) to investigate the Two Leaves symbol dispute, Munusamy argued that the EC has no authority over a party’s internal affairs. “The EC’s role is limited to symbol allotment when a party faces a split, not intervening in internal matters,” he asserted. He also took a dig at O. Panneerselvam (OPS) for filing a caveat petition in the Supreme Court despite claiming to have no conditions for rejoining AIADMK. “OPS is working against AIADMK by siding with rivals,” he alleged, expressing confidence that former minister Sengottaiyan would remain loyal to the party.Responding to AIADMK’s allegations, Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai defended the security cover, stating that ‘Y’ category protection is provided to any celebrity facing security threats, dismissing claims of political motives.
