The officer was pushed down and harassed by an unidentified person. Following the incident, the police registered a case under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 1998, and investigations are currently underway.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai has strongly condemned the sexual harassment of a woman police officer at Pazhavanthangal railway station, calling it a shocking incident that raises serious concerns about women’s safety in the state.
In his statement, Annamalai criticized the Tamil Nadu government for failing to maintain law and order, stating that the state has become unsafe for women.
“There is no fear of law among anti-social elements. The entire government machinery is dysfunctional, and the hands of the police have been tied. Instead of ensuring safety, the Chief Minister is lost in hollow publicity campaigns,” Annamalai remarked.
