Stop politicizing education, Help Students: Annamalai

BJP Tamil Nadu President K. Annamalai has urged the state government to set aside politics and join the PM SHRI scheme, ensuring a better future for school students and youth in Tamil Nadu.
Annamalai stated that Tamil language and culture are thriving, and the National Education Policy (NEP) does not impose any language on students. He dismissed claims that Hindi is being forced upon Tamil Nadu and emphasized that PM SHRI schools focus on science and Tamil-medium education.
He accused the state government of losing ₹5,000 crore by refusing to implement PM SHRI schools. He also pointed out that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin not to politicize education.
The Tamil Nadu government acknowledged that Hindi is not being imposed but cited a lack of teachers for other Indian languages as a reason for rejecting the three-language policy. Annamalai urged the government to conduct a student survey to identify their language preferences and appoint teachers accordingly.
Additionally, he suggested that if the Tamil Nadu government was truly concerned about employment opportunities, it could help Tamil-medium graduates secure teaching jobs in neighboring states.
Annamalai concluded by urging the government to prioritize students’ futures over politics and adopt the PM SHRI scheme for the benefit of Tamil Nadu’s youth.
