The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu has garnered significant support for its initiative advocating for the implementation of a multi-language education policy in the state. Launched under the banner of “Sam Kalvi Engal Urimai” (Education is Our Right), the petition drive has successfully collected 35 lakh signatures as of yesterday, with an ambitious target to reach one crore signatures by May.This petition seeks to push for the introduction of the three-language education policy in Tamil Nadu, which encourages students to learn Hindi, Tamil, and English. The BJP believes this policy will help bridge the gap between various linguistic communities in India and strengthen national integration. The petition will be submitted to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, once the target number of signatures is achieved.
Tamil Nadu BJP President, Annamalai, has emphasized that this initiative will help promote balanced multilingual education, contributing to students’ overall development and preparing them for a globalized world. He also highlighted the benefits of learning multiple languages, including improved cognitive skills and better career opportunities.
To make the campaign more effective, BJP functionaries and volunteers have been going door to door, directly collecting signatures from the public. Additionally, they have leveraged the internet, using the “Pudhiya Kalvi” (New Education) website to gather digital signatures. This combination of grassroots and digital outreach has seen a significant increase in participation, with 35 lakh people already endorsing the cause.
The campaign’s momentum continues to grow, with supporters from across Tamil Nadu joining in to advocate for the policy. The BJP aims to present the collected signatures to the President of India in May, reinforcing its demand for the adoption of the multi-language education policy as a step toward enhancing India’s educational framework and fostering national unity.
Through this movement, the BJP hopes to bring the issue of multilingual education to the forefront of national discourse, ensuring that the benefits of diverse linguistic education are recognized and implemented.
