The promotional event for Santhanam’s upcoming film DD Next Level turned into a memorable gathering with the presence of actor Silambarasan TR, who made a special appearance to support his longtime friend and co-star. Their camaraderie and mutual respect took center stage, offering a rare glimpse into their enduring friendship and shared cinematic journey.
Taking the stage, Silambarasan TR emphasized the importance of watching films from an audience’s perspective, even when friends are involved. “Everyone knows Santhanam is my friend, but I am an audience member first. I watch movies with that mindset,” he said. He praised the earlier films in the Dhilluku Dhuddu franchise and noted that the trailer of DD Next Level looks equally promising. Silambarasan highlighted Santhanam’s impeccable comic timing and body language, calling them standout elements of the film.
Silambarasan also lauded Arya, who is producing DD Next Level, saying that having a close friend like Arya behind the project adds a layer of trust and quality that a third-party producer might not bring. The actor concluded his speech with heartfelt wishes to the film’s cast and crew, expressing excitement for the project.
Santhanam, visibly moved, took the opportunity to thank Silambarasan TR for giving him his first big break in cinema with the 2004 film Manmadhan, where he played a memorable bald character. “If not for him, I wouldn’t be here. He saw my performance in Kadhal Azhivathillai and brought me into Manmadhan,” said Santhanam, recalling their early days. He also fondly remembered seeking Silambarasan’s advice about audience reception for his role and how STR assured him, citing the popularity of Lollu Sabha.
Santhanam also teased updates about STR 49, their upcoming collaboration, suggesting that much of the film’s discussion revolves around STR’s character and the bond they share. He promised unwavering support for Silambarasan, declaring that their friendship continues to stand strong.
He concluded by reflecting on his growing friendship with Arya, the producer of DD Next Level, and humorously addressed the crowd’s cheers saying, “I’ve been paid to speak here, so I must do it,” leaving the audience in splits.
The event was not just a promotional platform but a celebration of friendship, loyalty, and mutual admiration—setting the tone for DD Next Level’s anticipated release and the enduring partnerships behind it.
