In a sharp statement on Tuesday, Palaniswami alleged that Stalin’s trip was driven by personal motives rather than the welfare of Tamil Nadu. He recalled that the Chief Minister had previously boycotted NITI Aayog meetings in protest against the Union government’s alleged indifference to the state’s needs.
“Why the sudden change of heart?” Palaniswami asked in a social media post, tagging Stalin’s official handle. He also took a dig at the timing of the visit, indirectly referencing recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids linked to the TASMAC scam.
“He boasted about boycotting the NITI Aayog meeting because the Centre was ignoring Tamil Nadu. Now he’s flying to Delhi!” Palaniswami wrote.
Accusing the Chief Minister of ignoring the state’s needs at crucial times, the AIADMK leader claimed Stalin was making the Delhi visit now only for “family reasons.” He ended his remarks with a sarcastic comment suggesting that the ruling party was ready to raise a “white flag,” hinting at a compromise with the Centre.
The criticism comes amid heightened political tensions in the state and increased scrutiny over corruption allegations.
