According to the ECI, this initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the electioneering process across the country. Tamil Nadu election authorities have been instructed to make necessary arrangements for the booth agents to participate in the event at the national capital.
The programme will be conducted at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management in Delhi. It will focus on equipping the participants with essential knowledge and skills needed for election duties.
The curriculum includes role plays, mock house-to-house surveys, and practical exercises on filling important forms such as Forms 6, 7, and 8. These forms are used for voter registration, deletion, and corrections.
Participants will also receive hands-on training on using the Voter Helpline App and other digital tools. Mock polling exercises will be conducted to help them understand real-time polling scenarios.
So far, over 3,000 officials including District Election Officers, Booth-Level Officers (BLOs), and BLO supervisors from across India have undergone similar training.
The training is aimed at ensuring strict adherence to the Representation of the People Act, 1950, Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, and Conduct of Election Rules, 1961. The ECI hopes this initiative will contribute to free, fair, and transparent elections.
