Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the 16th International Machine Tools Exhibition in Chennai and highlighted that his government has nearly doubled its allocation to the MSME sector. In the current fiscal year, the DMK government has earmarked approximately ₹1,918 crore. Cumulatively, over three years, a total of ₹6,626 crore has been allocated—almost double the ₹3,618 crore disbursed during the entire 10-year AIADMK administrationStalin also announced key incentives aimed at bolstering MSMEs: peak-hour electricity tariffs have been reduced from 25% to 15%, backed by a ₹606 crore subsidy. Under the credit guarantee scheme, ₹7,579 crore was sanctioned for 42,278 MSME units. Additional subsidies totalling ₹1,381 crore were provided for capital, payroll, electricity, and interest needs
Highlighting Tamil Nadu’s economic achievements, Stalin pointed out that the state ranks third nationwide in registered MSMEs, with 3.5 million units generating 2.47 million jobs. He urged industry players at the exhibition to continue innovating and contributing to the state’s economic growth. A proposal for a 1,000-acre industrial estate near Ambattur is also under consideration
