Actor and politician Vijay will be the Chief Ministerial candidate of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), for the 2026 Assembly elections. The. Dannouncement was made after the party’s executive committee meeting on Friday.A special resolution was passed to confirm his name as the CM candidate. The party also decided to hold a big state conference next month. Public meetings will be held in villages to spread the party’s ideas.
Speaking at the meeting, Vijay said TVK will not join hands with DMK or BJP.
“We will never form an alliance with DMK or BJP, directly or indirectly. BJP tries to divide people using religion for political gain. We will not support such divisive forces,” Vijay said.
He also criticized the DMK government for planning a new airport at Parandur. He said the project would displace thousands of families and damage farming in the area.
