PMK leader Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss has called on the Tamil Nadu government to urgently address the shortage of faculty in government arts and science colleges across the state. He said that out of the sanctioned 10,500 assistant professor posts, more than 9,000 remain vacant. In addition, 96 principal positions are also lying unfilled.Dr. Ramadoss criticized the state for depending heavily on temporary guest lecturers, which, he said, affects the quality of education. He pointed out that no assistant professors have been appointed in the past four years and no principals in the last two years. He warned that colleges are turning into empty buildings without proper faculty.
Emphasizing the need for immediate action, he said the government must fill these posts without delay to ensure students in government institutions get quality education. He urged the authorities to treat this issue as a top priority to strengthen higher education in Tamil Nadu
