In a tragic incident in Chennai, a 65-year-old man and a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus driver lost their lives after the driver suffered a heart attack while on duty. The accident took place around 6 am on Sunday on a busy road.According to reports, the driver was operating route 70C, which runs between Koyambedu and Tambaram. While driving from the Vadapalani depot to CMBT, the driver collapsed at the wheel near a hotel. The out-of-control bus hit a pedestrian and then rammed into three parked cars.
Passersby rushed to the scene, broke open the bus window, and tried to rescue the driver. Others helped the injured pedestrian. Both victims were taken to a hospital but were declared brought dead. Investigations revealed that the driver had earlier complained of chest pain but chose to complete the trip. A case has been registered, and both bodies were sent for postmortem.
