Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the special health camp initiative titled “Nalam Kaakkum Stalin” (Stalin for Wellness) in Chennai today. Speaking at the event, he expressed how meeting people not only brings him immense joy but also contributes to his personal well-being.

Addressing the gathering, CM Stalin said, ā€œWhen I meet people, I feel energized. Even if I have any illness, it gets better. That’s why I insisted on continuing public engagements.ā€ He revealed that after returning home from a recent hospital visit, he resumed official duties at the Secretariat. Despite suggestions from his aides to cancel public events for a week, he chose to proceed, stating that serving the public is itself a healing act for him.

This marked his first public event after his return from the hospital. He emphasized that ā€œthe welfare of the people is my own welfareā€, reinforcing his government’s commitment to public health.

Stalin highlighted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, all ministers, including himself, functioned as Health Ministers. The government ensured widespread vaccination and provided financial support of ₹4,000 (in two phases) to every household to cushion the economic blow. ā€œWe proved that ours is a government that cares and protects,ā€ he said.

He reiterated his belief that health and education are the twin eyes of his administration. The government has rolled out numerous medical schemes in recent years to address the healthcare needs of the people.

Calling for compassion and care, the Chief Minister said those attending the wellness camps should not be treated as patients, but as beneficiaries of the state’s medical welfare. He advised healthcare staff to care for camp attendees like they would for a member of their own family.

ā€œOnly if the wall exists, can you paint on it — likewise, only with a healthy body can one live joyfully, work hard, and achieve goals,ā€ Stalin concluded.

The “Nalam Kaakkum Stalin” health camps have been launched simultaneously across Tamil Nadu to provide accessible medical check-ups and services to people from all walks of life.
