General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) said that his party will definitely win the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and form the government. He made this statement while campaigning in heavy rain, showing strong determination to connect with the people despite the weather in TirunelveliEPS is currently on a state-wide campaign tour titled “Makkalai Kaappom, Tamizhagathai Meetpom” (Let’s protect the people, let’s save Tamil Nadu). He began the campaign on July 7 from Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district and has been covering various constituencies every day.
During a public meeting in the rain, EPS told supporters that the AIADMK has a strong base and that people are ready to bring back the party to power. He said the public is disappointed with the DMK government and is looking for change. He also criticised the current state government for failing to deliver on key promises and accused it of rebranding projects started by the AIADMK.
Despite the downpour, large crowds turned up to hear EPS speak. EPS’s campaign will continue across the state in the coming weeks.
