Gold price hits new high in Chennai

The price of 22-carat jewellery gold in Chennai has increased sharply today (Sept 3).

One sovereign (8 grams) is selling at ₹78,440, up by ₹640. The price per gram has risen by ₹80 to ₹9,805.

On Sept 1, gold was sold at ₹9,705 per gram and ₹77,640 per sovereign. On Sept 2, the price went up by ₹20 per gram to ₹9,725 and by ₹160 per sovereign to ₹77,800.

Now, with today’s rise, gold has crossed ₹78,000 per sovereign, shocking jewellery buyers.
