The Central government has approved ₹1,964 crore for the Chennai Metro Rail project. The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is already working on Phase 2 of the project, which covers 118.9 km and connects key parts of the city. With this funding, work on stations, tunnels, and elevated tracks is expected to move quickly.
