Beijing,  Sept 23: China refrained from commenting on the U.S. decision to impose a $100,000 fee on new H-1B visa applications. Instead, Beijing announced the introduction of a new employment visa, the K-Visa, set to take effect on October 1, aimed at attracting global professionals, particularly in science and technology sectors.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized that in today’s globalized world, the exchange of talent is crucial for technological and economic progress. He stated that China welcomes professionals from various fields to contribute to societal advancement and achieve career success within the country.

The K-Visa, approved by China’s State Council and signed into law by Premier Li Qiang, does not require a domestic employer’s invitation, simplifying the process for foreign professionals. This move positions China as a competitive destination for global talent amidst tightening visa policies in other countries.
While the U.S. has implemented stricter visa regulations, including the significant fee increase for H-1B visas, China’s proactive approach may attract professionals seeking opportunities in a more accessible environment.
This development underscores the ongoing global competition for skilled professionals and highlights China’s efforts to enhance its appeal as a hub for international talent.
