Chief Minister M.K. Stalin convened a detailed strategy meeting at the Anna Arivalayam in Chennai with DMK Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs to discuss preparations for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
The meeting emphasized intensifying party work across the state, with each MP assigned responsibilities for three to four assembly constituencies.
During the meeting, Stalin instructed MLAs to spend at least four days a week in their constituencies, actively participating in both government programs and party initiatives alongside district secretaries. He stressed the importance of identifying absent voters, reviewing ongoing development works, and ensuring that projects funded through the MLA constituency development fund are executed promptly.
Stalin also addressed broader national issues, criticizing the central government’s approach toward state governments.
Stalin urged MPs to safeguard the rights of their constituents and press for the release of appropriate funds to ensure citizens benefit from programs and entitlements that are rightfully theirs.
Meanwhile in a press release, Stalin said, “India cannot achieve progress by penalizing state governments. Measures like GST reductions could have been implemented eight years ago.”
Citing Prime Minister Modi’s statements on GST and income tax relief, Stalin highlighted that opposition parties had consistently advocated for such measures from the beginning. He added that had these steps been taken earlier, Indian families could have saved even more substantial sums over the years.
The Chief Minister further pointed out that the current tax concessions largely depend on state governments’ cooperation. He criticized the central government for both withholding recognition and denying fair funding to states, including Tamil Nadu, under integrated educational programs, stating that such injustice must end.
In a social media post, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has expressed confidence that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), deeply rooted in the sentiments of Tamils and the soil of Tamil Nadu, will continue to thrive for another hundred years.
In a social media post, Stalin shared artworks created by DMK member and artist Govindarajan, highlighting the schemes and initiatives brought forth by the Tamil Nadu government.
Govindarajan, aged 87, hails from Siruvandhata, Villupuram district. Along with the artworks, a letter and an illustrated book by him were also received by the Chief Minister.
Stalin remarked that Govindarajan’s writings and illustrations vividly reflect the enduring spirit of the DMK, emphasizing that the party, deeply entwined with Tamil culture and sentiments, will remain strong and steadfast for generations to come.
