Escalating his attack on the BJP-led Union government, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin on Wednesday accused the Centre of systematically impeding the State’s development by denying key projects, withholding due funds, and attempting to undermine democratic rights.In a strongly worded post on social media, Mr. Stalin cited the massive protest held in Coimbatore by the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), where alliance leaders joined hands to condemn what he described as the Centre’s “evil designs” against Tamil Nadu.
Stalin said the Union government had rejected the Metro Rail proposals for Coimbatore and Madurai, thereby blocking much-needed infrastructure growth in two major cities. He further alleged that the Centre was attempting to snatch the voting rights of the people of Tamil Nadu through the ongoing Standardisation of Industrial Reformatics (SIR) exercise, and was working towards reducing the State’s Parliamentary representation through the upcoming Delimitation process.
The Chief Minister also criticised Governor R.N. Ravi, accusing him of repeatedly violating democratic traditions and acting with bias. He added that Tamil Nadu continued to face discrimination in financial allocations, along with persistent Hindi imposition and assaults on the Tamil language.
Listing these grievances, Stalin asserted that Tamil Nadu would fiercely resist all forms of injustice meted out by the Centre.
“Tamil Nadu will fight—and Tamil Nadu will win,” he declared.
