Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Aadhav Arjuna has stated that all evidence in connection with the Karur rally stampede has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the tragedy that claimed 41 lives.The CBI took over the investigation into the deadly stampede that occurred during a TVK rally in Karur on September 27. Officials and party leaders, including TVK general secretary N Bussy Anand, deputy general secretary C T R Nirmal Kumar, and Aadhav Arjuna himself, had already appeared before CBI officers and provided statements as part of the inquiry.
In a statement after appearing before the CBI, Arjuna said, “We have given all the evidence we had to the CBI. The investigation into the Karur stampede case is progressing properly. The truth must come out — we lost 41 members of our family and we are fighting for justice.”
The CBI’s probe began after the Supreme Court ordered a central investigation into the case to ensure a fair and impartial inquiry. Multiple parties and victims’ families had sought the transfer of the case to the CBI, amid allegations of lapses in crowd management and security at the rally.
Sources say that evidence shared with the CBI includes CCTV footage, witness testimonies and other materials meant to shed light on the circumstances leading up to the fatal crowd crush. The central agency has also questioned other participants and emergency responders as part of its inquiry.
The TVK continues to call for accountability and transparency in the investigation as it awaits further developments in the high-profile case.
