Former AIADMK leader V.K. Sasikala Natarajan, once the closest aide of late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, made a sharp political attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Thursday, asserting that the era of dynastic governance in Tamil Nadu is on the verge of ending and will be replaced by what she described as a “people’s government.”
Addressing the media during a press conference in Chennai, Sasikala extended New Year greetings to the people of the state but quickly turned her focus to a scathing critique of the DMK leadership. She accused the ruling party of overseeing a significant rise in crime since assuming power and highlighted a recent assault case in Tiruttani, saying it reflects a deteriorating law and order situation under the current administration.
“From the day the DMK Government rule started, many crime incidents—like the recent Tiruttani assault—have been happening,” Sasikala said, alleging that the Chief Minister, who oversees the police department, has remained silent on the issue, pointing to what she described as the government’s lack of governing capacity.
In her remarks, Sasikala stressed that 2026 would mark the end of what she termed dynastic rule, a pointed critique of the DMK’s political leadership structure, and forecast the emergence of a people’s government in its place.
