Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran on Friday asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has facilitated the release of nearly ₹14 lakh crore in funds to Tamil Nadu over the past 11 years, highlighting what he described as the Centre’s commitment to the state’s development. The statement comes amid heightened political activity ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, where funding and governance have become central campaign issues.Addressing a press conference, Nagendran said that the funds provided by the BJP‑led Union government over the last decade have helped support key infrastructure projects, social welfare schemes, and various development initiatives in Tamil Nadu. According to him, this financial support demonstrates the Centre’s equitable approach to all states, irrespective of which party governs them, and counters claims that the state has been neglected in central allocations.
Nagendran’s remarks were aimed at reinforcing the BJP’s narrative that under Prime Minister Modi, Tamil Nadu has received substantial financial assistance, even as opposition parties have criticised the Centre for alleged discrimination in fund release and project approvals. He urged voters to recognise these contributions while assessing the state and central governments’ performance, asserting that such cooperation between New Delhi and state capitals can accelerate development and improve public welfare.
