Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay has formally signaled that his party intends to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections independently, ruling out any alliances with established political parties. Speaking at a large gathering of TVK workers in Mamallapuram on January 25, 2026, Vijay dismissed speculation about electoral partnerships and strongly rejected what he described as “pressure politics.”
Addressing supporters, Vijay made it clear that he would not yield to political or institutional pressure ahead of the crucial polls. Although he avoided naming specific parties directly, he accused both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) of operating as allies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)—the DMK indirectly and the AIADMK directly—branding them as corrupt forces unfit to govern the state.
Vijay stated defiantly: “Do you really think I am someone who will bend under pressure? Does my face show that? I am not someone who submits to pressure. I have no pressure. But the people do.” He framed the election as a democratic battle in which his party would be uncompromising in fighting corruption and entrenched political interests.
In his speech, Vijay also unveiled TVK’s election symbol—the whistle—and urged party workers to treat every booth as a “temple of democracy,” mobilizing voters to support the party. He emphasized his commitment to transparency and ethical politics, asserting that he would not touch even “a single paisa” of corrupt money.
