Senior BJP-aligned AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami claimed on Friday that the DMK government’s tenure in Tamil Nadu would end after just two more Amavasyas (new moon days), asserting that his party would return to power with a majority in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.
Addressing a large rally organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran, Palaniswami said the DMK regime’s rule was nearing its conclusion and predicted that voters would bring the AIADMK back to leadership. He also suggested possible changes in alliance dynamics, including uncertainty over the Congress’s continuity in the DMK alliance.
In his remarks, Palaniswami invoked the legacy of late AIADMK leaders like J. Jayalalithaa, stating that his party would implement governance he described as “Amma’s rule” once again. His comments reflect the mounting campaign rhetoric as Tamil Nadu gears up for elections later this year.
